Many times we face people who do not build their own goals, but who appropriate those of others. They use other people’s success as their own, taking advantage of people’s innocent applause. They think that no one will discover their secret and they feed on the recognition they blindly get from others.
The problem is that no matter how much we lie or deceive others, our conscience runs faster than us and will always precede us, showing the truth. There are well-known cases and others that go unnoticed, but which are on the agenda, for example the plagiarism of doctoral theses, of contents on the internet (illustrations, interviews, works …) or of other musical or literary creations.
Plagiarism hides the need for recognition
There are also people who make up lies about their identity to prove how much they are worth and how important they are. From the constant and continuous lies that one invents, to create the life he would like and expose it to others, to the tricks that are used to mask probably unattainable goals. For some individuals, everything is fair in this game in which the goal is to quench the hunger for gratitude.
If we look beyond deception and self-deception, we will realize the need for external recognition that this behavior demonstrates towards who we are. A need so great that it needs invention, because reality does not satisfy it. In this way, the end justifies the means, and if this involves taking someone else’s success to feed the gratitude, which should belong to others, such individuals will.
Nonetheless, all of this means feeding on something that isn’t real. The public does not applaud these people, nor their creations. He applauds the creations of another person and this is the reality with which the plagiarist must live with. The truth is that their conscience cries out during the moments when the illusion fades and the lies can no longer hide the truth.
Create your goals and get closer to your essence
Come to think of it, why not create your own goals? What better gift is there than sincere and honest applause from others than something we have created ourselves? Always having previously received your applause and your embrace of what you are and what you have been able to do.
“Let’s not forget that original comes from origin”. And in fact, all the creations of history, all art, what individuals have created is genuine and authentic. It is obvious that there are influences and inspirations, but there is a big difference between being inspired by other people’s works and brazenly copying them.
To deceive oneself and consequently to deceive others means moving away from one’s essence. It means wanting to be who you are not. It corresponds to not striving to create and give life to something of one’s own. It means conforming to something that is easy, but at the same time leaves an imprint for our conscience to punish us.
Lying or the opposite of authenticity
These false or inauthentic joys do not last long, their days are numbered. Every lie, after all, is reckless. It is valid in the short term and ends up collapsing, thus leaving the impostor exposed, who very often has to lie again in order not to be discovered.
Building your own goals, giving them birth, will guarantee you authenticity. It will bring you closer to who you are, with your lights and shadows. What you get will be yours and will be born from your purest self. You will create reality and this will set you free. Free from having to deceive, free not to have to hide, free from the burden of having to support something that doesn’t belong to you. Also, it will give you a strong motivation to be proud.

But above all, being authentic means achieving success towards oneself. There is no greater triumph than pursuing the very essence of one’s self.
